 Old Age Angel

It might take a while to acclimatise, its been so long since I posted. I was 21 and I blinked, and in an instant I had turned 70. Wow what?

I thought I might start by addressing things that might help others in my position to overcome.

Makeup

There's many products on the shelves pertaining to age. I call it "makeup ageism", everything from foundation to mascara.

Lets start with eyes.

Magnifying mirror probably required by now. Mine is 7 times bigger. That just means your wrinkles are 7 times worse. Wow, what a shock that was.

Don't use shimmer shadow, it highlights the creases on your lids. This is very true in my case, however I found if I use it with a matte light beige it does work, but only use a smidgeon.

No harsh lines. Again quite right for me, but you can use a brown instead of black and blend the lines out,  I use lighter shades of shadow and a good blending brush and you are good to go.

Mascara. OK, more difficult, because you need to actually be able to see what you're doing up close. Hmm, even with the 7X mirror its hard. I tried fake lashes, couldn't see to put them on. Had a chuckle at that, gave them to my grand daughter. Just a light weight mascara and use a curler. Or not.

Brows. oh dear. What a disaster. I had mine tattooed twice, and while making you look amazing they need to be redone every year. I look at the cost of everything now and the expense is hard to justify in this current climate. If you have grey hair you will need to either use a brow tint or fill them in with a pencil or shadow that matches the tattoo shade. My brow lady said they were sisters rather than twins. So unfair, I want twins (took my bat and ball and went home)

Lips. I have a routine. Lip liner, fill in with concealer and blot with a tissue. Light formula lippy, blot, and a dab of powder to set them. You could try an all day lippy, personally I have found they don't last. If you are having coffee and lunch you'll need to fill in the outside edges after a couple of hours. I sometimes use a 24 hour one, that definitely lasts but instead of using they're lip gloss to keep the looking moist, use a light coloured gloss. Moisture effect lasts much longer.

Foundation. Umm, I don't. I use either a tinted moisturiser or tinted sunscreen. Usually the latter, because it kills 2 birds with one stone (I really don't want to kill those birdies) They can be costly but just watch out for specials on your preferred brand. I honestly believe no foundation will make your skin look great, it just amplifies wrinkles. No one wants to be that person, well not me anyway.

Blush. From temples to mid eye, and very light. A light dusting on your nose. You could try some highlighter on your forehead between your brows, and on the tip of your chin.

Ok I'm done for now. Totally forgotten what else I wanted to say. Thanks for reading and leave a comment.
